Charles Shimukowa Wins Mid-South Conference Track Athlete Of The Year


BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Charles Shimukowa won the 400 and 800-meters and was part of the second-place 4x400-meter relay, earning Athlete of the Year honors while helping Cumberland to a third-place showing in the Mid-South Conference Men’s Indoor Track Championships Monday.


Shimukowa won the 400 in 48.41, almost a second in front of teammate Ishmael Arnold’s time of 49.30.

He also outpaced Campbellsville University’s Sam Kiser by more than a second (1:55.69 to 1:56.82) in taking first in the 800 as well.

The Lusaka, Zambia, native teamed with Shamar Salmon, Will Marsh and Arnold for second place in the 4x400 in 3:22.39.
