Tyrell Richard Sets MEAC 400 Meter Record

LANDOVER, Md. – South Carolina State sprinter Tyrell Richard established a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Indoor Championship record Saturday as well as a facility mark in the 400 meters with a time of 46.62 at the Wayne K. Curry Sports and Learning Center.
The Georgetown senior erased the meet’s mark of 47.00 set by North Carolina A&T’s Dajuan Harding in 2017. Richard finished ahead of three-time defending champion North Carolina A&T’s Trevor Stewart, who was clocked at 47.04.
Richard also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish and helped SC State finish fifth overall in the men’s team standings.
